Clinical Education Requirements

for

CPR and First Aid

Prior to the start of the Fall semester the student must provide proof of current individual certification in both of the following to the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE):

 

  1. Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

        This course must be taken at the level for the professional health care provider.  Certification is available through courses provided by the American Red Cross (CPR for the Professional Rescuer) or through the American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider CPR).  These courses include the following:

    • infant/child/adult CPR
    • foreign body airway obstruction
    • AED (Automated External Difibrillators)

 

2.   Basic First Aid

        This course provides the skills needed to act quickly, calmly and effectively when caring for an adult or child in an emergency situation.  It is offered through the American Red Cross.
