Mercer County Community College's Physical Therapist Assistant program is proud of the accomplishments of all of our graduates! The data provided within the chart above represents pass rate on the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) for Physical Therapist Assistants which is the board exam used to establish minimal competence in the determination for licensure by states for PTAs. The columns to the right represent the 3 and 2 year averages for the overall pass rate on this nationally administered exam.

Graduation rates by class are listed for the past several years in the chart above with the 3 and 2 year averages in the third and fourth columns. The attractiveness of the PTA program remains high and retention is also relatively high however; many learners discover that academically, this is a demanding program and perhaps is not quite "the piece of cake" that they had thought that it would be since it is an Associate of Applied Science Degree program. The primary reason that someone might be unable to complete the program is due to an academic issue.

 Overall: BIO 104 was in progress for 20/110 or 18% of those who petitioned  
    PTA 101 was in progress for 22/110 or 10% of those who petitioned 
    PTA 105 was in progress for 41/110 or 37% of those who petitioned

^2015 GPA

Of the 28 who were accepted into the Professional Phase, the breakdown of GPAs is as follows:

20 had a GPA between 3.5-4.0 with 8 having a 4.0

5 had a GPA between 3-3.49

3 had a GPA between 2.5-2.99

& For Spring 2016  The curriculum changed so that PTA 105 moved into the Professional Phase and PTA 112 moved into the pre-professional phase. This change temporarily decreased the number of qualified applicants.

The applicant pool is significant.

Admission to the PTA program is not guaranteed for any student/learner. Admission decisions are  based upon the Petitioning process and handled by the Admissions Office.
